And so she cried

Whatever for, she had no idea. She tried her usual method of thinking of lots of things which might be making her unhappy until she found which one made her cry harder.

It didn't work.

Her husband, he was loving. He tried to help. He tried to comfort. He did help, and he did comfort.

But she was still so sad.

She still couldn't figure it out. She cried at the oddest times through the morning.

Then she stopped crying, but she didn't feel much better. She still didn't know what was wrong. And no, there were none of the usual excuses for girls.

Her husband asked her what to do.

She jokingly replied she wanted to play Dragon Age and have a head massage.

So he gave her a head massage.

She felt so calm, so tired and so relaxed.

He gave her a very long head massage.

She wasn't very good at fighting the baddies, and she kept walking into walls, but she loved it.

She still doesn't know what was wrong, but she knows what helped most: the unselfish, the generous and genuine love of her husband, who didn't treat her like a moody girl who should stop crying and get over herself. She felt the love of God through him.

Gee, I nearly started crying again....

Songs of life

I've had many songs speak to me or impact me greatly. Some songs I cannot listen to because they remind me of something. I remember singing a song to myself, in an attempt to get through a traumatic time in my life. It took years to enjoy that song again. Other songs, I don't know I'll ever like again. Although, they can't be very awesome if that's the case.

Here are some songs and a line from each, and a little bit about what the songs mean to me and where they fit in my life.

Daniel Merriweather, Change.
"Ain't nothin' gonna change" - Too true. Lots of songs point out the hypocritical things in life, but his catches my fancy because it has a catchy tune. I also agree, that "nothin's gonna change" if people don't wake up.

Bryan McFadden, Real to Me.
"No one knows me but they know my name." - An interesting thought. I wonder how many people know my name, but don't know me. I wonder how many people I know by name, but nothing of who they are. I wonder how often I judge those people. It makes me think before I judge celebrities a bit more now.

Blue Lagoon, Break My Stride.
"Last night I had the strangest dream" - This could be my life's catchphrase... I have always had the strangest dream...

Euroband, This is My Life.
"This is my life, all the pain, all the joy it brings." - I loved this song when I first heard it. I probably like it so much because it was surrounded by terrible songs. Eurovision had a lot of pathetic, stupid, lovey dovey and depressing songs that year, and this was the only song that made me feel happy and better about myself. What's not to like?! :D

Evermore, Hey Boys and Girls.
"We're here to entertain, so disconnect your brain." - The music video is mesmerising. There's something about a guy with very blonde hair and a very black hat that makes me want to keep watching.

Fiddler on the Roof, Far from the home I love.
"Closing my heart to every hope but his." - This song made me cry so much in the time before leaving my family to be close to Phil and it means a lot to me.

Kristyn Lennox, See What a Morning.
"See what a morning, gloriously bright with the dawning of hope in Jerusalem." - What a stunningly glorious song, filled with hope and reminding me of how amazing God's sacrifice is for everyone :D

In fact, considering that Easter is so close, here are the lyrics! Enjoy them, savour them, find the song and listen to it :D Love God and praise Him!

See what a morning gloriously bright
With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem
Folded the grave-clothes tomb filled with light
As the angels announce Christ is risen
See God's salvation plan
Wrought in love borne in pain paid in sacrifice
Fullfilled in Christ the Man
For He lives Christ is risen from the dead

See Mary weeping "Where is He laid?"
As in sorrow she turns from the empty tomb
Hears a voice speaking calling her name
It's the Master the Lord raised to life again
The voice that spans the years
Speaking life, stirring hope, bringing peace to us
Will sound till He appears
For He lives Christ is risen from the dead

One with the Father Ancient of Days
Through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty
Honour and blessing glory and praise
To the King crowned with power and authority
And we are raised with Him
Death is dead love has won Christ has conquered
And we shall reign with Him
For He lives Christ is risen from the dead

Scared

I'm feeling rather vulnerable at the moment. Rather nervous, you might say. Or you might not. My mind is too big. It has too many questions. I like boundaries, endings, walls, answers. I don't like the fear that comes when I can't find the answer to a question, or when I think of something that I don't want to imagine, but I start to imagine despite.

I also hate it when I think up two answers to a question, both very different but both can be justified. It fills me with fear, because I want to think the right thing, do the right thing, know the right thing, but I don't know what is right.

This isn't going to be all a pile of mumbo which has no real point. I do have a point. In fact, I have an essay that I am writing. So far, I am fairly clueless as to what I am going to write about. There are too many things I can write about, and now I am getting hung up on a side point.

What should be considered young adult literature?
Should it be books which are clean, encouraging them to also be clean and to be a better person like of whom they read?
Should it be books which show dirty people, who are in horrible situations but still manage to overcome?
What is a young adult able to read?
What will help a young adult?
Does a young adult want to be helped?
What is 'helping' a young adult?

Grotty

This isn't going to be a happy post, sorry.

Last night I had a grotty dream,
It made me really sad.
I don't think I was very good,
And someone else was very bad.

I woke up with a headache,
Wishing I could sleep more,
But I had promised to drive Phil to work,
So I stumbled out the door.

I drove back feeling very tired,
Exhausted and unwilling to do
All the things on my list that had to be done,
And so I forgot a thing or two.

Only a few little things, but enough to make
My headache increase quite a bit,
And after I arrived at my tutorial,
I realised I forgot my script brick.

Thankfully my tutor had on hand
An extra brick to spare,
But then I was asked to read a character,
Which gave me quite a scare,

For as I read through, I realised that
She wasn't nice at all.
Of all the characters I could have picked,
I got the only screwball.

She started off with a blowjob,
A lovely lady indeed.
And she was the only character who swore,
I cringed, but I had to read.

I felt so much worse for having read,
And so I pleaded sick - (sidenote, I was sick... am sick... dang headache)
I went to the shops to work through my list,
And hoped it would be done quick.

So when I realised I had forgotten a trolley and bags,
I nearly threw a fit.
My arms fell off all the way to the car,
And now my shoulder's stiff.

I reaquainted myself with the Princess and the Frog,
Whilst wishing Phil would come home then.
And give me a great big squishy hug,
But he didn't, so I tried to sleep again.

I sighed a lot, I prepared the dinner,
I lay around and sighed more.
And now I'm surfing the internet
And waiting until four.

The day has not been a wonderful day,
But at least when I see Phil,
My day will get a lot better,
It may even be wonderful still.

I so wasn't expecting to write a poem just now. I was going to be all "Woe is me", but it's amazing what a poem can do to change an attitude. I feel a bit happier now. I might even manage a little smiley :)

Oh, and the reason why I wrote a poem was because the first bit I wrote sounded so much like the first line of a poem that I just had to keep going...

And now I am going to do something else. Not sure what. Maybe something to do with a book. And Panadol.

Tea for two, and two for tea

Phil and I went tea shopping yesterday. If we hadn't seen my family earlier that day, then I would say that going tea shopping was the highlight of the day. As it was, seeing my family was the highlight :)

*happy sigh*

So we drove to Civic, and went forth to the delights of T2. Why? Oh, well, Phil had just been given a lovely teapot by his grandparents and we decided that buying some tea for the teapot was in order. I don't like tea. Most people know that. But then Bethany gave me a loverly tea chest and some loverly tea from T2, and I changed my mind a little.

I don't always like tea. Most days I look at the tea and think it's awful. I always like the smell, but it doesn't taste the same as it smells. Yesterday I suddenly really liked it, for some random reason. So that was probably a good day to look for new teas.

Phil chose the flavoured black tea, Crémé Bruleé. I quite like it, but my tea (which was very strong) drowned his out with the extreme flavour. I like strong tea if I'm going to have it. My choice was Toasty Nougat. Both are delicious and I think I'm going to enjoy having these new teas :D

Especially when I get back from uni and the shopping which I have to do today.

I feel so sleepy...

Lameness

I am discovering just how lame I can be. Nothing like being married to someone awesome to show you how lame you can be. But I have selective memory, and I have to remind myself that he can be lame too.

However, he's pretty awesome to hug me and hold me even when I am at my most lame. Maybe that's not true. I'm sure I could be more lame if I tried (or didn't try)...

What a weird start to the post. Here are some more examples of lameness in my life.
  • UC email is broken. Every day I check my emails. Almost every day I am told there's an error in connecting to my account and I can't see them. This has not been good, because I am supposed to be keeping in contact with my group for an important assignment due next week, with which we are running out of time.... *heart palpitations set in*
  • That's making me feel edgy, and now I am freaking out about little things, like an untidy house. My untidy house is lame. Surely I could keep my desk clean... I should be able to keep my desk clean...
  • Keeping my thought patterns sensible and loving and awesome. It's really difficult. I very easily fall into the 'lame, stress, argh, whimper, woeisme' thought patterns.
Here is why I shouldn't fall into these thought patterns. Life is awesome because:
  • I have a husband who loves me, lameness and all.
  • I have a God who loves me, lameness and all.
  • I have lots of friends who are awesome, some of whom I am seeing today - Yay!
  • I have lots of blessings in my home and out of my home.
  • I have a new MyWay card and it's fun getting on and off buses *giggle*
  • I have a lovely computer and access to most things (aside from my uni email...)
  • I have the blessing to be able to go to uni and to study, which reminds me that I should go do that....

Sneeze

Sneeze, sneeze, sneeze, sneeze, sneeze, sneeze. That's all I've been doing all day, pretty much. WHY?!?! This house must have some mould or something that I am allergic to.

Any ideas for what I can do? Any tablet/allergy thing I can take which will stop me from sneezing and incessantly blowing my nose?

Complaining out of the way, life is beautiful. Yes, despite nose. I had a lovely day on Thursday, which is still making me happy. It all started off with a vacuum cleaner....

My last vacuum cleaner was given to me (I should say 'us', though I look on it as mine) by a relative. I wasn't overly thrilled, but a free vacuum cleaner is always good... until it starts smelling like it's going to burst into flames. Also, it's definitely not good when there's smoke coming out of it. So Phil and I decided a new one would be good.

I looked around a little and spotted this beautiful masterpiece by Eloctrolux. So amazing! I fell in love and then looked around to see if there was a store nearby that sold it.

What luck, and great coincidence, I knew there was a store that would sell it, which was opening in Belconnen on Thursday. I also knew it would have a sale on to celebrate its opening. So I planned to be there early that morning to buy a beautiful new machine that would make my life easier (no, I am not being paid to write this). I got it for $50 less than advertised! It only cost $169.95!

I also got a cool bag of freebies (unnecessary stuff entirely) and got away before any of the actual store opening stuff happened. The stiff and expensive looking people that were walking around scared me off.

Once at home, I had a gleeful half hour looking at my freebies, putting together the vacuum cleaner, and then rapidly vacuuming anything I could lay the vacuum cleaner on (that's a lot of stuff! It's very flexible and can go many places!). It stopped rather quickly because of course the battery wasn't full. The battery, you say? Aha! It is cordless!

This marvellous piece is a work of art by Electrolux! Not only is this a very lightweight vacuum cleaner, but it is cordless! This ensures easy usage for adults, children, and those who hate wheeling around things while tripping over cords.

Other features of the household god is a free standing charging device, LED lights on the front of the vacuum cleaner head to show you the dirt more easily, and a very flexible vacuum cleaner head that reaches almost everywhere!

This machine has more than meets the eye, for the middle bit can be taken out and is actually a hand held dustbuster! Just to get into those even harder spots! It even comes with 2 attachments for the head of the dustbuster!

Seriously, excellent purchase and I would be recommending this to as many people as possible. It's cheaper than a Dyson, has the same bagless technology that is very easily emptied and cleaned. It is better for smaller houses, but it can be handy for bigger ones too. Older people and those who are less mobile would enjoy this because of it's light weight and lack of things trailing behind it, and it's not necessary to do much bending to plug things in or press buttons.

So!

The rest of Thursday was also very awesome, only I have to bake a cake so that rant can wait til later....

God bless you!
